From January 1st to January 15th in Argentina, Chile - and Peru.


We have previously reported that South America, for the fourth time, will host the Dakar 2012 - and now the route is announced. Dakar will start in Mar del Plata in Argentina, via Chile and and the dunes of the Atacama Desert and then 14 days later finish in Lima, the capital of Peru.

Unlike previous years, the Dakar 2012 will go from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, through South America, and then up to the Pacific Ocean. In addition to visiting Peru for the first time, it's also confirmed that there will be 14 days of racing, rather than the 12 days in 2011.

The Route for 2012 - more than 9,000 km in total.
